GASBAGS NORTH EAST CHARTER
A) Gasbags North East (18 years on wards) is a social group for gay/bisexual men and for men questioning their sexuality. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and is held in a very safe environment.
B) Confidentiality is paramount to the group and must be respected at all times. What is said in the group remains in the group and must not be communicated outside of the group. Breaches of confidentiality in whatever form such as verbal, written, social media will not be tolerated and can lead to permanent exclusion from the group.
C) Be hospitable to new members and their support staff ( whether male/female ) and make them feel welcome and that they are among friends.
D) The group is open to all gay/bisexual men and men questioning their sexuality. However,if you have problems with alcohol and/ or drugs please do not attend the group when you are drunk or stoned.
E) There is a no smoking policy ( including electronic cigarettes, cigars and pipes ) within the group, however, smokers are free to go outside for a smoke.
F) All members of the group should treat each other with dignity and respect, this should also be extended to guests of Gasbags North East. Although Gasbags North East is for men only the group should accept at times when necessary the presence of females who are either guests of Gasbags North East or the carer/support staff of gay/bisexual/men and men questioning their sexuality.
G) Gasbags North East is not a group to find a relationship or a sexual encounter, however, if this should happen amongst members then it must be conducted outside of the group.
H) Members of Gasbags North East are encouraged to participate in group activities, however, if they do not want to participate then this must be respected.
I) Inappropriate behaviours such as swearing, offensive or abusive language will not be tolerated and can lead to temporary exclusion from the group ( length of time to be decided by the committee ). Threatening behaviours/personal attacks whether verbal or physical will lead to permanent exclusion from the group.
J) Each member of the group has a say in how the group is run, however, the committee of the group ( whose decision must be fair and impartial ) has the final say and this decision must be respected.
K) Members of the group are responsible for their own housekeeping.
The Gasbags North East group is in an exciting phase at the moment, we are currently liaising with another group ( Time Out York ) to create a support network for members of the LGBT community who are asylum seekers.
